What is implant restoration?

Implant restoration is the part of dental implant treatment that completes your new tooth: the custom, natural-looking crown (or bridge or denture) that attaches to your implant. At Dentistry at Millennium Park, we design and place that restoration, and we coordinate the surgical placement of the implant itself with a trusted specialist.

How Implant Restoration Works

A dental implant has two parts. First, a small titanium post is placed in the jawbone to act as a replacement tooth root. Then, once it has healed, a custom restoration, usually a crown, is attached on top to become the tooth you see and use. That second part is implant restoration, and it's what we do here.

We design and place natural-looking, tooth-colored restorations that complete your implant and let you bite, chew, and smile with confidence. For implant-supported bridges or dentures, which replace several teeth at once, we provide the restoration in the same way.

To be clear about how we work: the surgical placement of the implant post is handled by a trusted specialist we coordinate with. Once your implant is healed and ready, we complete your restoration. You get a seamless, well-coordinated experience and a beautiful final result.

Is Implant Restoration Right for You?

Implant restoration may be right for you if you:

  • Have a dental implant that's ready for its final crown
  • Have an existing implant crown that's worn, loose, or damaged
  • Are missing a tooth and considering an implant (we'll coordinate placement and complete the restoration)
  • Want a fixed, natural-looking replacement that functions like a real tooth

Note: We'll examine your implant or talk through your tooth-replacement options, and walk you through every step, including coordinating placement when an implant is needed.

How Much Does Implant Restoration Cost in Chicago?

The cost depends on the type of restoration (a single crown versus an implant-supported bridge or denture) and the materials. Coverage varies by plan, and many dental plans cover part of the restoration. We're in-network with most major PPOs and will review your specific benefits with you. Note that the surgical placement of the implant is provided and billed separately by the specialist.

To keep treatment manageable, we offer financing through CareCredit and Cherry, and members of our in-house membership plan receive 15% off treatments. We'll always give you a clear estimate up front.

What to Consider About Implants

Implants are an excellent, long-lasting way to replace a missing tooth, but it helps to know what's involved. The full process takes time, often several months, because the implant needs to be placed and then heal before the restoration goes on. Good daily cleaning around the implant matters, and like any restoration, the crown may need maintenance or replacement over the years.

An implant isn't the only option. A dental bridge or a denture can also replace missing teeth, sometimes faster or at a lower upfront cost. And remember, we provide the restoration, while the surgical placement is handled by a trusted specialist we coordinate with. We'll talk through every option honestly so you can choose with confidence.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

It's the part of implant treatment that completes your new tooth, the custom crown (or bridge or denture) that attaches to your dental implant. It restores the look and function of a natural tooth.

We provide the restoration — the crown that goes on top of your implant. The surgical placement of the implant post is handled by a trusted specialist we coordinate with, and once your implant has healed, we complete your restoration.

An implant replaces the tooth root, doesn't involve the neighboring teeth, and tends to last a very long time, but it requires surgery and several months of healing. A bridge is faster and often less costly up front but relies on the adjacent teeth. An implant is best for preserving healthy neighbors and longevity; a bridge is best for speed and simplicity. We'll help you decide.

Often several months overall, because the implant is placed and then needs time to heal before the restoration is attached. The restoration step itself is much quicker once your implant is ready.

It depends on the type of restoration and material, and many plans cover part of the restoration. We're in-network with most major PPOs, offer financing and a 15% member discount, and will give you a clear estimate. The implant placement is billed separately by the specialist.
